Your first Candy Kingdom Defense match
A practical route from choosing a starter to making the next attempt more useful.
Independent editorial guide · Source-based, not personally tested
Choose Finn or Jake, place your available hero on valid ground and upgrade that hero during the match. After the attempt, return to the Tree Fort and choose one collection improvement. Keep match spending separate from permanent hero growth. [1][2]
From the lobby to the first defense
- Choose your starter. The documented opening offers Finn or Jake; use the hero available to you.
- Place before planning a finished collection. Select a hero card and use a valid ground position along the enemy route.
- Inspect the placed hero. Select the hero on the board and choose Upgrade when match coins allow it.
- Finish the attempt. Look for the point where the defense stopped meeting the wave, rather than changing every system at once.
The interface actions above are described in the October 19 fan guide and have not been personally tested here. [2]
Two kinds of progress, two different decisions
| When | Decision | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| During the defense | Spend match coins on placements or upgrades. | This affects the match currently running. |
| Back in the Tree Fort | Review your hero collection and decide the next development goal. | A new collection choice does not retroactively fix the completed attempt. |
| Before an evolution project | Check the intended hero’s own entry and requirements. | A new form is a separate project, not a synonym for a match upgrade. |
The detailed beginner source describes match upgrades, lobby summons and permanent growth as separate systems. The developer also explicitly distinguishes leveling, traits and evolution in its overview. [1][2]
What to do after the attempt
Use the outcome to choose one next step. This is an editorial way to organize the session, not a promise that one change beats every stage.
| What you noticed | A focused next step | Avoid changing everything |
|---|---|---|
| You did not get a useful opening in place | Repeat the opening with the same available starter and inspect placement and match upgrades. | Do not let a rare-unit goal replace learning the basic interaction. |
| The opening works but a particular enemy gets through | Identify the missing contribution before choosing a new hero. | Use the hero list as a comparison, not an automatic shopping order. |
| You returned with resources but no clear plan | Choose one unit or collection need before using another development menu. | Do not spread a small budget across several unrelated projects. |
| You want to claim a code first | Follow Jake’s redemption steps, then read the actual result. | Do not budget a reward merely because a guide lists it. |
Playing with friends
The developer supports playing with up to three friends, making four players including you. [1] Agree who handles the opening and which contribution each player is preparing. Coordination is a useful planning choice; it is not a claim that every map needs a fixed team composition.
Choose your next guide
For rewards, go to codes and redemption. For the decision about which hero to develop, open hero choices and tiers. Both tasks can help the next attempt, but neither replaces learning to place and upgrade in the match.
